How does comment-to-DM automation work?
You connect an Instagram professional account through Meta’s official Business Login (no password sharing), choose configured posts or use the all-posts scope, and set a trigger. When an eligible comment matches, DM Now can publish an optional public reply and send the commenter the private message you configured.
A comment can open Meta’s limited private-reply path; it does not by itself create consent for unrelated or later marketing. DM Now uses that recipient-first path rather than cold outreach, while you remain responsible for message content, consent and current platform rules.
Why reply to every comment at all?
Two practical reasons are consistency and response coverage. Questions such as “link?”, “price?”, and “how?” can be answered from configured copy without someone monitoring notifications continuously.
Manually, that means living in your notifications. An active automation can handle matching “GUIDE” comments while quota remains and Meta accepts the send; activity logs show skipped and failed events.
What can the DM contain?
A supported text message or link, including a product page or lead magnet. Classic automations can add a follow request and a final lead-capture prompt. Visual flows can send, wait for a reply and branch. AI replies are a separate Pro account-level fallback for otherwise unmatched inbound DMs.

- Does comment automation work on reels?
- Supported comment webhook events can be scoped to selected media or all media on the connected account. Delivery still depends on Meta eligibility and plan limits. Re-trigger only retries eligible previously skipped events.
- Will Instagram flag automated comment replies?
- DM Now uses Meta’s official messaging APIs and does not scrape or log in as you. No software can guarantee account or reach outcomes; you remain responsible for Meta’s rules and your message content and frequency.
- Can I use multiple keywords or any-comment triggers?
- Yes. Exact mode matches the entire trimmed comment, contains mode matches configured words or phrases at Unicode token boundaries, and any-comment mode accepts every eligible comment event.
- Is comment automation on the Free plan?
- Yes. Free includes unlimited automations with 1,000 DMs and 1,000 contacts per month, no credit card. Pro removes the ceilings and adds AI replies and moderation.
- What happens to the people who comment?
- A person reached by the automation is saved to the built-in contact list. Automation and keyword context remains available in Activity and lead records; contacts can be exported as CSV.
