Re-trigger
Retry events that were previously skipped.
After activating a classic automation, enqueue a bounded background retry for eligible prior events that did not send.
Capabilities
Bounded recovery
Each job can reprocess up to 500 matching skipped events.
Background execution
The worker processes the job outside the web request.
Classic only
Visual flow automations enroll new events and cannot be re-triggered.
Stored events only
The job does not fetch or scrape Instagram’s historical comments.
Rules snapshotted
The queued trigger, media scope and reply stay fixed while quota and delivery rules apply.
Visible progress
The latest job exposes scanned and reprocessed counts.
What problem does re-trigger solve?
An event can reach DM Now while no automation matches, while an automation is paused, or before you finish its configuration. When the event was stored with the required source identifiers, re-trigger gives you one explicit, bounded way to ask the engine to evaluate that skipped event again.
What does re-trigger not do?
It does not discover interactions Meta never delivered, scrape a post’s comment history, bypass the monthly DM quota, override cooldown or eligibility rules, or run visual flows. A reprocessed event may still be skipped or fail, and its result remains visible in Activity.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I change what an old post’s keyword delivers?
- You can edit a classic automation before queuing the job. The trigger and response are snapshotted at enqueue time, and only recent stored skipped events that match that snapshot are eligible.
- Does re-trigger scan any post on my account?
- No. It searches recent eligible events already stored by DM Now and reprocesses no more than 500 matches; it does not query Instagram for historical comments. Live comments are excluded after the broadcast.
- Do late commenters count against my DM limit?
- A successful retry uses the same monthly DM allowance and delivery checks as a new event: 1,000 automated DMs per month on Free and unlimited automated DMs on Pro.
- Is re-trigger a separate product?
- No. It is a background recovery capability for active classic automations. Visual flows cannot be re-triggered.
